Forever21 Augmented Reality Billboard at Times Square

This electronic billboard just made its debut this morning in New York City’s Times Square, and already it has people stopping in their tracks and watching it with amazement. Using an HD camera and unique spy technology, in real time it can digitally separate pictures of individuals standing in front of the billboard, and make it look like the giant model is plucking their images from the crowd.

See through walls! IBM Seer Wimbledon 2010

Amid the excitement of this year’s Wimbledon tennis tournament, IBM have released their 2010 “Seer” mobile Application, built by OgilvyOne London.

IBM actually launched their first Seer Application for Wimbledon in 2009 and also brought it to this year’s Australian Open tournament, but for this  year’s Wimbledon the Application has been updated and improved to include some stunning features:

  • Live video feeds from around the stadium - Allowing users to see Tennis matches, Taxi ranks, etc from anywhere inside the stadium.
  • Live radio - so users can hear the commentary as they are watching the game
  • Real-time augmented reality - Pointing the phone’s camera around the stadium shows the user which matches are currently playing on the various courts (and other information)
  • A Twitter client - allowing you to tweet about the match you’re watching

Nike True City

The idea is some sort of Augmented Reality blended with Foursquare. But what I like about this video is the presentation of it. As usual, Nike presents it in a stylized way that can drive fans crazy.

AT&T - Augmented Reality Banner Game

If you’re getting tired of the World Cup campaigns I’m posting, just leave a comment below and I’ll stop! But for those who are not, this one might warrant your attention, it’s an Augmented Reality Game Banner for AT&T on ESPN.com (created by Zugura, BBDO and Zoic Studios)

The banner brings you right into the game, with Zugara’s Augmented Reality motion capture technology called ZugMO, and has you heading crosses towards to goal straight from your webcam. You Get 5 shots to score as many goals as possible and there isn’t a lot more to it than that, but this is a very cool concept and I’m looking forward to seeing the engagement results!
